✅ What to Expect this Week

Children are introduced to mindfulness through breath, body awareness, and classroom connection. They practice foundational mudras, explore Sun Salutation, and experience a guided 'yoga nap' to build self-awareness and calm.

Week One Summary:

Welcome to your first week of the Early Intervention program!

This foundational lesson introduces young learners to mindfulness through connection—connection to their breath, bodies, feelings, and the classroom community.

Key Objectives:

  • Explore the concept of mindfulness: “paying attention to what’s happening right now”
  • Practice three beginner mudras (Plug Into the Earth, I Need Some Space, Lotus Flower)
  • Learn simple yoga movements to build body awareness and calm energy
  • Experience a guided mindfulness “yoga nap” with music
  • Begin cultivating classroom connection using rituals like the Love Whoosh

Developmental Focus:

  • Social-Emotional Learning: Students practice identifying how they feel and learn tools to regulate emotions
  • Physical Development: Movement supports balance, coordination, and spatial awareness
  • Cognitive Skills: Mind-body connection strengthens attention and memory

Teacher Tips:

  • Use visual supports (mudra cards, yoga visuals)
  • Emphasize participation over precision—praise effort!
  • Integrate mindfulness tools into daily routines (e.g., mudras during transitions)

At-Home Extension:

Encourage caregivers to create a “calm corner” where children can practice mudras and breathing at home.

“Mindfulness means we notice what’s happening right now—and that helps us feel our best.”
